Carbon Reduction Plan

Commitment to Net Zero

PLE Health is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. We are committed to measuring, managing and reducing our greenhouse gas emissions in line with UK Government guidance and the expectations of NHS and public sector procurement.

Organisation Profile

PLE Health operates from leased office premises and employs 25 staff.
The organisation introduced hybrid working in April 2026, with employees generally attending the office four days per week where operationally appropriate.
The majority of internal, client and supplier meetings are undertaken using secure video conferencing to reduce unnecessary travel.
All company vehicles are fully electric.

Emissions Reporting

PLE Health calculates and monitors its greenhouse gas emissions as part of its commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2050.

Our greenhouse gas emissions have been calculated using activity data and the UK Government greenhouse gas conversion-factor methodology. The 2025 reporting period is used as our baseline, with 2026 representing our current reporting period.

Carbon Reduction Progress

PLE Health's calculated greenhouse gas emissions have reduced from 54.0232 tCO₂e in the 2025 baseline period to 39.8036 tCO₂e in the 2026 current reporting period, representing a reduction of approximately 26.3%.

The principal calculated reduction relates to employee commuting following the introduction of hybrid working in April 2026. PLE Health will continue to monitor its emissions annually and improve the quality and accuracy of its emissions data as further operational and supplier information becomes available.

Reporting Boundary and Methodology

The reporting boundary covers PLE Health's operational office energy use, water, business travel and the required Scope 3 categories included within our carbon calculation methodology.

Activity-based data is used wherever available. Where measured supplier-specific information is not currently available, reasonable assumptions are identified within our supporting carbon calculation records and will be reviewed and improved as more detailed information becomes available.

Carbon Reduction Initiatives

  • Hybrid working introduced in April 2026 to reduce commuting and office occupancy.
  • The majority of meetings are conducted via secure video conferencing, reducing business travel.
  • Older air conditioning units replaced with modern, more energy-efficient systems during the reporting year.
  • All company-owned vehicles are fully electric, eliminating tailpipe emissions from the fleet.
  • Business travel is restricted to essential journeys only (approximately 4,000 miles annually).
  • Digital-first processes minimise paper use and printing.
  • Environmental considerations are included in procurement where reasonably practicable.
  • Annual monitoring of electricity, gas and water consumption.

Environmental Management Measures During Contract Delivery

  • Remote consultations and virtual meetings where clinically appropriate.
  • Video conferencing as the default for management and supplier meetings.
  • Efficient scheduling to minimise travel.
  • Use of electric company vehicles for essential journeys.
  • Monitoring utility consumption and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Continuous review of sustainability initiatives and supplier engagement.

Declaration

PLE Health Ltd recognises its responsibility to minimise its environmental impact and is committed to conducting its business in a sustainable and responsible manner.

We are committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 and will continually review our operations to identify opportunities to reduce our environmental footprint while maintaining safe, effective and high-quality healthcare services.

To support this commitment, PLE Health will, wherever reasonably practicable:

  • Procure environmentally responsible products and services from suppliers that demonstrate sustainable business practices.
  • Consider environmental impact as part of procurement and purchasing decisions.
  • Improve energy efficiency within our leased premises through the use of modern, energy-efficient equipment and regular monitoring of utility consumption.
  • Continue to support hybrid and flexible working arrangements where operationally appropriate to reduce commuting-related emissions.
  • Conduct meetings using secure video conferencing wherever possible to minimise unnecessary business travel.
  • Operate an all-electric company vehicle fleet and encourage efficient journey planning for essential travel.
  • Reduce paper consumption by maintaining digital-first business processes and electronic record systems.
  • Promote recycling, responsible waste management and the efficient use of natural resources, including electricity, gas and water.
  • Encourage employees to contribute to environmental improvements through sustainable working practices and environmental awareness.
  • Work collaboratively with landlords, suppliers and business partners to identify opportunities to reduce carbon emissions across our operations and supply chain.
  • Review our environmental performance annually and update our carbon reduction objectives as our organisation grows and more detailed environmental data becomes available.

PLE Health is committed to embedding environmental sustainability into its business operations and contract delivery. We will continually seek practical and proportionate opportunities to reduce our environmental impact while supporting the NHS, public sector organisations, private clients and the communities we serve.
