Neurodiversity pathway

The PLE Health Neurodiversity pathway has two branches of assessments – Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

An ASD or ADHD assessment will use gold standard assessment tools, carried out by fully qualified, highly experienced clinicians, following national guidelines.

An ASD or ADHD assessment involves the following steps:

  • 1

    Initial Consultation

A clinician will collect detailed information about a person's developmental history, behaviour, medical background, and family history.
  • 2

    Screening

Questionnaires and checklists are used and are filled out by the individual and sometimes by parents or caregivers.
  • 3

    Initial Session

Together with your clinician, you’ll agree on a personalised Treatment Plan. In some cases, a brief report may be provided, outlining the recommended treatment, number of sessions, expected outcomes, and any potential challenges.
  • 4

    Comprehensive Assessment

If the initial screening suggests the possibility of ASD, or ADHD more detailed assessments are completed.
  • 5

Review of the Results, Decision Regarding Diagnosis and Recommendations

The clinician (S) will analyse the information collated and form a conclusion about the person meeting the criteria for a diagnosis. The clinician (S) will provide recommendations regarding possible interventions, support services and therapies.
