Bereavement counselling
Bereavement counselling
Grief is a natural response to loss—but that doesn’t mean it’s easy. Whether you’ve lost a partner, family member, friend, or someone else close to you, bereavement counselling can help you navigate the pain, confusion, and emotional ups and downs that follow.
At PLE Health, we offer professional, sensitive bereavement counselling to support you through your grief, at your own pace. You don’t need to go through this alone.
What is bereavement counselling?
Bereavement counselling provides a safe, confidential space to talk about your loss and how it’s affecting you. It’s not about rushing you through the grieving process or “moving on”, it’s about helping you make sense of what you’re feeling and finding ways to cope.
Grief looks different for everyone. You may be feeling:
Numb, shocked, or disconnected
Angry, guilty, or regretful
Overwhelmed by sadness
Lost, stuck, or unsure who you are without the person
Pressured to “get back to normal” when you’re not ready
Isolated or unsupported by people around you
All of these feelings are valid. In counselling, you’ll be met with empathy, not judgment.

When should I seek bereavement counselling?
There’s no “right” time to ask for help. Some people reach out shortly after a loss. Others come to counselling months—or even years—later, especially if grief has become complicated or overwhelming.
Counselling may be especially helpful if:
You’re finding it hard to talk to friends or family
Your grief is affecting your sleep, work, or relationships
You feel stuck or unable to move forward
You didn’t get to say goodbye or the death was sudden or traumatic
You’re dealing with multiple losses or unresolved feelings
Whether your loss was recent or in the past, counselling offers a calm, caring space to process it.
What to expect from sessions
Your first session is a chance to share your story and talk about what you need from support. There’s no pressure to “explain things well” or to be okay, we’ll meet you where you are.
Sessions are usually:
Weekly or fortnightly, depending on your needs
Online or in person, based on your preference
Short-term or longer-term—you choose what’s right for you
Your therapist will listen, guide, and help you find gentle ways to cope and remember, without rushing your process.
